Intercessions for Easter 5, 10th May 2020

We pray to God our Father who through the risen Christ gives his people the power for good

Father, grant that your church, constant in faith and love, may bring forth good fruit. Give unity to all her branches in the strength of Christ the true vine. Give to those who minister wisdom in the transmission of on line worship, that by word and sacrament your people may grow in faith.

Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Father, we continue to pray for all those affected by the pandemic virus. We especially remember those who work in the NHS, all carers, particularly those in nursing homes. We thank you for the volunteers and charities who are doing much to alleviate suffering: for all friends and neighbours who care for others.

Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Father we pray for those men and women who are planning the way forward out of our crisis. Give wisdom to our Prime Minister and the government, courage and insight to all those who will enable us to regain our lives again. We thank you for our research scientists as they find permanent solutions for our well-being, and give them the knowledge that they need.

Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Father, we remember before you those we know who are struggling at this time. For those who are ill, those who find isolation difficult to cope with, and for those awaiting treatments for their illness. Give courage to people in financial distress and enable our society to find ways of dealing with our economy.

Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Father, we name before those we have loved and see no longer. We thank you for their good examples of love and faithfulness. With gratitude we remember at this time those who brought about the end of the Second World War, especially for all the men and women who gave their lives that we might live in peace.

Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Father, we pray for ourselves. We rejoice in warmer days and signs of growth in our beautiful world: give us joy and hope that the risen Christ may live though each of us. Give us each day the reassurance of your saving love in Christ.

Through his grace we offer our prayers. Amen
