Meet our Ministry Area Leaders Tim and Karen
So, what exactly is a Ministry Area Leader?
Reverend Karen and Reverend Tim’s appointment to the role of Co-Area Ministry Leadership, means that together they share in the Bishop’s ‘episcope’ (oversight) of the 19 Parishes which make up the Monmouth Ministry Area. This role involves the support of Focal Ministers, the encouragement of new ways of being church in our communities and in supporting the churches of the Ministry Area so that they can minister even more effectively in their communities and thus grow the Church. So, the role of Ministry Area Leader is most of all a missional role.
At the same time, Karen will be Priest in Charge and Vicar/Incumbent of the Rural Parishes and Tim will have the same role with the Town churches. In the past, the pastoral/administrative and other functions of the traditional Vicar have left little time for new initiatives; it is envisaged that the role of Ministry Area Leader will enable the Laity, thus liberating the Ministry Area Leader to support new initiatives.
Also, since Tim and Karen will be working together across the Ministry Area, if you have a coffee morning or fundraiser, chances are they will both be there, and if a new type of service is started up in one of the churches, they will probably both be involved.
