Compline from Monmouth Parishes

As a comfort during this “firebreak” pandemic lockdown, Compline evening prayers will be said each evening. You can find all the Compline recordings here.

Thursday’s Compline comes from St. Oudoceus in Llandogo, led by Revd. Canon Nigel Juckes.

Wednesday’s Compline is Celtic, the “Felgid Compline”, led by Revd. Owen Williams and his wife Liz Williams.

Tuesday’s Compline was led by Bishop Dominic. He told us how the monks of Monmouth would complete their day – Compline – with the prayers we are sharing today.

The first Compline for the “firebreak” was led by Revd. Karen Dack and Revd. Tim Dack at Old Church Penallt.

Coronel Remembrance and Holy Communion

The annual Remembrance service for those sailors who lost their lives when HMS Monmouth went down with all hands on November 1st 1914. The service includes the singing of “Eternal father Strong to Save”.

Also, in the second part of the video we share in Holy Communion. During this part of the service, Phillip Chant sings the Gloria and the Revd Tim shares a song that reminds us of the power of God’s love to hold us close at times like this.

(Filmed prior to lockdown)

Join Rev. Owen Williams and the people of St. Michael and All Angels Mitchel Troy to find out how the community around the church is building a playground, supporting local wildlife and running international charities. Plus the ancient chapel discovered behind old, damp walls.

Highlights from live stream Harvest Service at St. Cenedlon’s Rockfield

We’re trying more live stream services as the pandemic continues to limit our worship. Please let us know if you find them useful, what you would like to see and if you would like us to try to live stream from your parish. It’s not always possible because of limited internet access. Sometimes we can use 4G, sometimes we can use a long cable to plug into someone’s home internet connection. That’s what we did for the live stream Harvest service at St. Cenedlon in Rockfield. Big thanks to Robert and Janet Jones for letting us run our wires out of their front door!

Sunday School Activity Packs

It looks like the Covid restrictions are not going away anytime soon. So here’s a message for parents – and grandparents, of course. Siân, a primary school teacher, has offered to create Sunday School Activity Packs that will be delivered to your home for you to share with your children. Then a weekly Zoom meeting will give parents and children a chance to show what they have done and listen to a Bible story. We can share Sunday School fellowship. Please contact monmouthparishsecretary@gmail.com to let us know you would like to receive the Activity Pack – you don’t have to join the Zoom to take the Pack, although it would be more fun if you did. Please let us know the age of your children.
