St Thomas’ Overmonnow

St Thomas’ Square, Monmouth, NP25 4ES

Overmonnow parish comprises the southern end of the historic town of Monmouth. The congregation at St Thomas’ is friendly and informal – there is a warm atmosphere to the worship and visitors are always welcomed. On the first Sunday of the month we have a shorter  Family Eucharist. We are fortunate in having the involvement of a youth music group, who participate in this service.

On the third Sunday of the month we have “Messy Church” for children and their families. This meets in the church hall for a variety of activities followed by a very short time of story and singing in the church, and some food back in the hall. There is also a Sunday School on alternate Sundays.

There are two house groups which usually meet fortnightly. There is also a quiet hour on a Thursday, once a month.

The church and Wayside Calvary Cross in the garden of remembrance attract many visitors, particularly during the summer months when the town and camping site are full of holiday makers. The church is left open all day every day during daylight hours for viewing and for private prayer – its’ visitors’ books reflect the diversity of those who appreciate finding the church open.
